"There are two versions about the orgin of the Oyster Shucker on St Pete Beach. One is that it was washed ashore 200 years ago, a collection of driftwood and remains of Spanish galleons. The other Theory is that a Scotty's truck lost a load of lumber turing of 75th Avenue and La Vern Hunter declared the pile a restaurant!
But if you like oysters and beer, smoked fish spread & crackers and snow crab, then claw you way through the wreck and enjoy!
Folks from around the world, staying at elite St Pete Beach hotels, find the Shucker, then go back to Toronto or Tokyo and...don't tell anybody! If the South Coast News had a circulations in the hundred thousands, I would not tell YOU! (Isn't it nice to be an elite reader?)"
The above is from a 1984 news clipping in the South Coast News about the Oyster Shucker when it was located on 75th ave. The funny thing is, it could have easily been written yesterday! So come on in and enjoy a cold beer and good seafood and don't forget to keep it to yourself!
